Commiphora myrrha is the most common species of myrrh-exuding tree. The scent of its resin is often dependent on soil composition and rainfall, which varies from region to region.

This myrrh is harvested in Puntland, a semi-autonomous state in northeast Somalia, by an ancestral community whose income is traditionally subsidised through the harvest and trade of Boswellia carterii and C. myrrha resins. The resin is particularly high in oils, conveying glorious bittersweet notes when burned. All in all, this is an extraordinarily high grade myrrh, harvested and sorted with traditional methods.
